Denise Kopecky

Director of Education

Denise began her career as an elementary school teacher and has taught both upper and lower grades. She developed and delivered curriculum for a wide spectrum of learners and served as a team leader at multiple grade levels, providing mentoring to teachers during their first and second years in the classroom. She led professional development courses focusing on best practices and classroom management. Denise also served on the Teacher’s Advisory Board to the Superintendent for several years during her teaching career.

Prior to joining Challenger Center, Denise worked in a variety of volunteer roles to support a public charter school.  Her roles included acting as the Parent Teacher Organization President, volunteer grant writer and fundraiser, and serving as a voting member of the School Mission Team, which oversees the operation of the school by analyzing and approving curriculum and programs.

Denise holds a bachelor of science degree in Psychology and a Master of Teaching degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. Outside of work, Denise enjoys traveling and activities with her husband and three children.
