MARTIANS OF TOMORROW

The Martians of Tomorrow are different.
They are a new species formed on Earth to discover new worlds.
They are the biologists, geologists, and roboticists of the future.
They are trailblazers who inspire Earthlings.
They develop skills that will be the envy of their friends.
Their first mission could be Expedition Mars at a Challenger Learning Center.
Take a pledge and help turn the students of today into the Martians of Tomorrow.

PLEDGE

Fellow Earthlings, terrestrials, surface dwellers; the time has come to spring forth from this planet into the cosmos.

While the current generation analyzes, charts, and maps the journey to Mars, the first person to walk on The Red Planet gazes longingly out of a middle school window.

Inspire her to pursue education in science, technology, engineering, and math.

Support her journey from graduate to mission leader.

Be the catalyst that launches her into space and humanity into the future.

Support the Martians of Tomorrow. Take the Pledge.

MARTIAN KNOWLEDGE

The greatest feat the Martians of Tomorrow will overcome is still unknown to them. The skills they will use to do it are not. Science. Technology. Engineering. Math. These are the disciplines they will lean on to take man to Mars, drill into the core of The Red Planet, power the Earth and find a cure for cancer.

Choose a Martian role and pull from our list of lessons and activities that will inspire and excite the Martians of Tomorrow and help propel them toward the Red Planet.

COMMUNICATIONS

Direct contact between all teams on the mission with the COM team. Use your information technology skills to provide the crucial link among all teams working together. Success is impossible without clear communication, and clear communication is impossible without you. Today — facilitate transmissions between all teams on the mission. Tomorrow — establish and maintain a direct channel to Earth from Mars.

SEAN ROBINSON

NAVIGATION

In order to study the Red Planet, the team has to make it there first! Chart the course through Martian orbit with the NAV team. Control the spacecraft and take it through previously uncharted territory in real time. This is not for the faint of heart. Challenge your skills in math, physics, and your quick reflexes to make it safely to the surface. Today — land the spacecraft on Mars. Tomorrow — pilot any number of crafts to the Red Planet as a seasoned veteran.

BIOLOGY

Churn through the Martian soil in search of the building blocks of life with the BIO team. Put your biology, chemistry, and hands-on skills to the test in a search for life on Mars. Today — analyze the conditions and materials to sustain life. Tomorrow — populate the Martian landscape with the systems to support all manner of flora and fauna.

ROBOTICS

Inspect the surface of the Red Planet and chart a course for the Rover with the BOT team. Put your programming and analytical skills to the test in the ultimate challenge. Your decisions determine the fate of the most advanced machine to ever explore Mars. Today — learn the planet and teach the rover. Tomorrow — code the most advanced technologies in the harshest extra-terrestrial environments.

GEOLOGY

Dive deep below the surface of Mars with the GEO team. Study the inner workings of the Red Planet to find out what really makes it tick. Can life ever be sustained on Mars? It is up to you to find out. Put your geology and analytical skills to the test to peel back the surface of Mars and “follow the water.” Today — determine where and if water flows over Mars. Tomorrow — use the inner workings of Mars in order to sustain life and development.

LIFE SUPPORT

Keep the rest of the team alive with the LS team. Without your contribution the entire mission would come to a screeching halt. Challenge your analytical and observational skill set to define and relay data in real time to keep the mission going. Today — monitor the systems to keep astronauts alive. Tomorrow — build the systems that make life on Mars possible.

MEDICAL

Determine the effects of the Martian atmosphere on humans in real time with the MED team. A new environment provides a whole new set of medical challenges, never before seen. Put your biology, chemistry, and mathematical skills to the test as you monitor radiation and other factors unique humans on Mars. Today — study and treat the effects of Mars on your teammates. Tomorrow — write the book on Martian medicine.

ROVER

Build the most complex wheeled vehicle in space on the ROV team. Find the perfect balance of mass and power while completing tasks vital to the success of the mission. Put your engineering and observational skills to the test alongside your quick ability to adapt. Today — build a rover that can safely cross the surface of the Red Planet. Tomorrow — develop the rover of the future or the first manned convoy across Mars.

WEATHER

Predict and manage the trajectory of any and all things falling toward Mars on the WEATHER team. Study the Martian atmosphere and predict the patterns of objects as small as dust and as large as spacecraft within its orbit. Put your meteorological and observational skills to the test as you predict storms in real time across the Red Planet. Today — keep your team safe from dust storms and other objects. Tomorrow — provide a daily Martian forecast to its inhabitants.
