Check out these super cool space science, Earth science and engineering design challenges. Share your predictions, videos and designs!
EARTH SCIENCE CHALLENGE
This project adds activities for teachers and students to use to learn about viewing the Earth from space including classroom lessons on how astronauts take photographs from space and how scientists understand them, and images of Challenger Learning Centers from space and images of important Nature Conservancy areas as seen from space.
MT. EVEREST CHALLENGE
Follow former astronaut Dr. Scott Parazynski as he climbs Mount Everest. f he is successful, Dr. Parazynski will be the first human to stand on the highest point on our planet and to orbit our planet in space. Scott hopes that teachers and students will follow his adventures, and plans to post responses to student questions, photos, videos, and scientific experiment information on his blogs.
GARRIOTT SCIENCE CHALLENGE
Richard Garriott is a preeminent game developer and son of NASA Skylab Astronaut Dr. Owen Garriott. As a private space explorer, Richard followed the lead of Educator Astronaut Barbara Morgan (STS-118), through interactive lessons before, during and after his spaceflight to motivate and inspire students. His flight to the International Space Station occurred in October 2008.
NASA ENGINEERING DESIGN CHALLENGE
Join the Challenger Center for Space Science Education and NASA’s K-12 Engineering Design Challenge and have your students design a mini-greenhouse for use by future astronauts living and working on the moon and receive space-flown basil seeds returned by the NASA’s Educator Astronaut Barbara Morgan.
