Co-Traveling in a World of Ideas
PACCT (Parents And Children as Co-Travelers in a World of Ideas) is a new and innovative project designed to engage families in the pursuit of discovery. It is about looking to the skies, asking questions, and learning the answers together. PACCT family teams (one parent and one child, grades 5-8) participate in four extracurricular programs that are designed to augment their children's classroom studies; these activities are conducted at home, at school, and at participating Challenger Learning Centers.
PACCT programs address National Education Standards in mathematics, science, and technology, as well as emphasize the essential skills of critical thinking, teamwork, and communication. It is a goal of this project to provide tools to students of all gender and backgrounds as they prepare for the 21st century.
Through learning by doing, participants experience new possibilities for themselves. Every family can learn to work as a team, solve problems, communicate honestly and clearly, and make good decisions.
PACCT programs are built around a core program that brings people back to Challenger Learning Centers again and again—simulations. The chance to experience, in some small way, the energy of NASA teams changes how people work together. PACCT offers a range of programs that engage parents in joining the excitement, and having greater participation in their children's education.
