Challenger Center has a genuine commitment to education. We know that in order to make change happen, we must reach all parts of the education system: students, teachers, schools, and communities. We have developed a full array of programs to accomplish this.
The results of Challenger Center's programs are awesome. Students learn that mathematics, science, and technology are needed for some "really cool" jobs that they can engage in. I have never seen any other program where students are so on-task, excited, learning, and enjoying their work for a full two hours. It's amazing!
Our programs are based on a very simple philosophy—that students, teachers, and families will always be happily surprised by what they can accomplish. Regardless of a person’s cultural background, economic situation, gender, learning style, or academic level, every Challenger Center program provides both children and adults with an opportunity to succeed.
Challenger Learning Centers
Challenger Learning Centers are the centerpiece of Challenger Center and its educational programming. Embodying our philosophy of learning through simulation, the international network of Challenger Learning Centers transforms over 500,000 students into astronauts and engineers annually.
Garriott Science Challenge
Richard Garriott is a preeminent game developer and son of NASA Skylab Astronaut Dr. Owen Garriott. As the next civilian to fly into space, Richard plans to follow the lead of Educator Astronaut Barbara Morgan (STS-118), through interactive lessons before, during and after his spaceflight that will motivate and inspire students. His flight is currently scheduled for lift-off to the International Space Station in October 2008.
