Challenger Center has a genuine commitment to education. We know that in order to make change happen, we must reach all parts of the education system: students, teachers, schools, and communities. We have developed a full array of programs to accomplish this.
I never cared for science much. But then I came to the Learning Center, and I got to act like an astronaut for a couple of hours. I saw that science and math aren't just things you learn. They are things you use! I got some books on Mars from the library, and I've been learning more about the Solar System ever since. I don't think I will ever become an astronaut or someone at Mission Control, but a career in science (even teaching science) is now a possibility.
Our programs are based on a very simple philosophy—that students, teachers, and families will always be happily surprised by what they can accomplish. Regardless of a person’s cultural background, economic situation, gender, learning style, or academic level, every Challenger Center program provides both children and adults with an opportunity to succeed.
NASA EXTREME ENVIRONMENT MISSION OPERATIONS
From October 17-29, 2011, the crew of NEEMO 15 will leave the comforts of surface life, and immerse themselves in an undersea world of adventure.
Challenger Learning Centers
Challenger Learning Centers are the centerpiece of Challenger Center and its educational programming. Embodying our philosophy of learning through simulation, the international network of Challenger Learning Centers transforms over 300,000 students into astronauts and engineers each years, and impacts over 40,000 teachers through professional development programs.
