You have been handpicked as members of the first lunar colony. You are asked to work on one of five International Lunar Colony Association Design Teams that are developing plans for your facility, Habitat 2015. Your work will be critical to the survival of your entire crew.
Applying your knowledge of Earth habitats, you will use a systems approach
to develop a model of your new home on the moon. You will address energy,
nutrition, plant growth, medical, habitat and lifestyle requirements. Creatively
adapting your building materials and brainstorming needs and ideas with
other design teams may be a few of your challenges. Just like true architects, you will need to document the steps you take to reach your conclusions. Your future support team on Earth will need your documentation to assist in problem solving, should your lunar colony encounter any emergencies in the essential systems you designed.
Lunar Challenges are 4-session programs (2-hours per session, 1-session per week). For detailed information on the Lunar Challenge program, please click here. |
