The Parents And Children as Co-Travelers in a World of Ideas (PACCT) project is making the dream of family learning a reality. The PACCT project targets state and national educational goals in math, science and technology (MST) process skills and workplace readiness, while building collaboratives between career sites (ie., corporations), schools, Challenger Learning Centers (CLCs) and homes. It is a goal of this project to provide tools to students of all gender and backgrounds as they prepare for the 21st century.

Girl Scouts The PACCT project was selected as an educational partner by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, CA, and by Girl Scouts of the USA. Opportunities were created, through a national PACCT Patch Program, for young women and their families to work together in new ways. Click here for the full scoop. JPL

In November 2000, the project received a Grand Award in the SBC Foundation and Partners in Education National Telecommunications Award Program 2000 for partnerships that have facilitated the integration of telecommunications technology into education and have documented positive outcomes on student achievement and success.

Through learning by doing, participants will experience new possibilities for themselves.

Challenger Center for Space Science Education and its Learning Center partners are committed to offering quality programs for families. Just as the families of the Challenger 51-L crew have made a difference through the founding of the Challenger Center for Space Science Education (CC), every parent of every child can make a difference in that child’s interest and success in math, science and technology. In addition, every family can learn to work as a team, solve problems, communicate honestly and clearly, and make good decisions. Challenger Learning Centers, working with local partners, can change the way families learn, live and work together and how they use math, science and technology.

PACCT programs are built around a core program that brings people back to Challenger Learning Centers again and again - simulations. The chance to experience, in some small way, the energy of the NASA teams changes how people work together. PACCT offers a range of programs that engage parents in joining the excitement.

We invite you to make a PACCT!
