Return to the Moon

Crew Training Activities

Lunar Rock Hounds

Ever wondered what the Apollo astronauts found on the moon? In this tempting simulation, family teams will create edible models of three basic rock types as they undertake geological training together in preparation for the mission. An appreciation for the moon's history will evolve as you delve into its "hot" past.

Mine or Yours?

Working as a Lunar Geology Research Team, family teams will use two specific granola bars to analyze the source and characteristics of different lunar minerals. When the Team is finished with their scientific research to determine whose site is better as a target for mining by a future lunar colony, they may enjoy "eating the evidence."

Lunar Olympics

Just like John Glenn, your astronaut crew will need to emphasize physical fitness during crew training. This active simulation will have family teams testing their physical skills as they compare activities they may enjoy recreationally on Earth to those that may be possible in the 1/6th gravity on the moon.
