Using space exploration as a theme, Challenger Center creates positive learning experiences that raise students’ expectations of success; foster a long-term interest in mathematics, science, and technology; and motivate them to pursue careers in these fields.
I know one good answer to the questions people are asking about American education, American scientific leadership, and American students' motivation to learn. That answer is Challenger Center.
Challenger Center for Space Science Education, founded in 1986 by the families of the astronauts of the Challenger 51-L mission, is dedicated to the educational spirit of that mission. Challenger Learning Center programs continue the crew’s mission of engaging teachers and their students in science, mathematics and technology and foster in them an interest to pursue careers in those fields. Forty-eight Challenger Learning Centers across the country carry on the Challenger STS-51-L mission by providing educational workshops and space simulations to over 25,000 teachers and 400,000 students annually.
Join Challenger Center's partnership of individuals, corporations, and foundations that share a concern about the future of our nation's youth. Together, we can continue our education mission and bring the excitement of learning to millions of young people and their teachers.
The support we receive from across the country goes to the national programming efforts of Challenger Center for Space Science Education. Challenger Center offers several methods that allow you to contribute to our mission.
